Performance Work
Different messages require different creative mediums.
Getting on stage takes courage. I've been a part of creating - acting, writing, producing - with the Reflective Collective since 2008. Before I did it I didn't know that I could - I only knew that I must. I learned how to work outside of my comfort zone to answer the call of creativity.
box WINDOW door, 2011
Dark humor and supernatural visitations light up the night in the dreams of Natasha and Margaret Blink, whose parents are survivors of the Holocaust. Written by Evelyn Stettin and directed by Angela Grillo, the all female cast of Box, Window, Door take you on a phantasmagorical journey through the imagination and a tough family legacy. Unconventional staging and filmed projections create a multimedia production of unsettling power.
Box, 2011
*This performance won BEST IN SHOW at the 2011 Los Angeles Fringe Festival*
Margaret Blink is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She hasn’t left the house since her mother died two years ago. A German film director is brought back from the dead to “wake up” Margaret. Box, Window, Door (BWD), based on the idea that the soul speaks to us through dreams, is a surreal fusion of eye-opening theatre and live projection.
Window, 2012
boxWINDOWdoor tells the story of Margaret, the middle-aged daughter of Holocaust survivors. In the second Act of this re-birthing cycle, Margaret wakes up inside a dream and encounters "Coffin Girl".
Prayer, 2014
PRAYER is a multi-media performance piece about prayer as a conduit of transformation. Built on a song cycle composed by Sackjo22 (Susan Joseph), this unique cycle of prayers for guidance, relief and gratitude re-imagines Evie Ruth's* dream of Dorothy Vogel through music, text, video and movement directed by Angela Grillo.
